#1773 Visiting Your CSA's Farm

From 1800 Food Adventures Vol 3

As soon as I had a child I joined a CSA-  or Community Supported Agriculture.  It is when you share in the risk with a farmer and prepay her/him to grow some food for you.  You don't know what the season will bear and you become familiar with what is available and when.  When M'ijo was old enough we took him to visit our CSA's farm.  It was a wonderful experience for him as he learned where his vegetables came from. It was also a  formative experience for my husband and I as we began imagining what it could be like to grow your own food.

Support your local farmers and see if you can join a CSA near you.
